A small neighborhood approximately 15 minutes east of  Downtown Oakland, the Laurel District is teeming with culture and diversity. As you walk through this diverse neighborhood, it’s easy to gain a sense of what makes Laurel such an amazing place to live.

Residents of Laurel can walk to a wide variety of restaurants and try several different cuisines any day of the week. Notable restaurants in the neighborhood include:
Sequoia Diner: Offering a delectable menu of breakfast and lunch staples, everything at Sequoia Diner is made from scratch. A fantastic option for breakfast with friends and family.
Miliki Restaurant: Savor the flavors of West Africa in this popular dining establishment. Add in a small stage for live music and a DJ, and transport yourself into a different-yet-fun culture without leaving town.
The Laurel District is conveniently located next to I-580, and is less than 15 miles from the heart of San Francisco. If you prefer utilizing public transit, residents of Laurel can easily access the BART System via Route 54 with a short walk down MacArthur Boulevard to 35th Avenue. Furthermore, college students and faculty who live in Laurel are just a half mile away from Mills College.
